Nontypical Mule on the Mountain (Honorable Mention, NRA Youth Art Contest)

This color pencil picture was drawn for the NRA Youth Wildlife Art Contest. Depicted here is a nontypical, double throat-patched buck and two does. The background was chosen from a trip I took to Yellowstone National Park. Making the background realistic yet not too eye catching was probably the hardest part of the picture. Contrasting the similarly colored mule deer was also difficult. I spent quite some time on this piece and was pleased by the end product.this drawing received an honorable mention in the NRA contest.
