Wood Duck (State 1st, Junior Duck Stamp)

This simple painting was a blend of some of my personal aspects. The wood duck is one of my favorite duck species, because of its graceful shape and iridescent feathers. The overhanging willow leaves and their reflection came from the pond I have spent so many lovely hours on. By choosing a gentle background, I could concentrate on the duck. This way, if portrayed on a stamp (the purpose of the art contest), It would be clear and noticeable. The painting won 1st place for my age group in New Jersey.
