Burn

Burn
“Burn,” reflects upon the prompt “Forge” in terms of the definition “produce a copy or imitation of a document, signature, banknote, or work or art for the purpose of deception.” The main sculpture is made from aluminum foil and newspaper applied with heated paper mache paste (flour, water) for a clearer look. The markings on the wood were applied using woodburning techniques. The organic but inhuman appendages protruding from the base of the hand pay homage to the temptations of man to do evil. The title, “Burn,” as well as the woodburning marks imitating the path of blood or perhaps fractal burns, explores the idea of hell and meddles in another definition of forge: a furnace.
